Important detail here about 12hr shifts.

There is no doubt they drive burnout and staff leaving. And they harm pts.

Eliminating them = more staff.

BUT 12hr shifts means more days when existing staff can do overtime.

Short term goals trump long term gains.

This is completely out of order for GMC bbc.co.uk/news/articles/… if it fits the ‘rules’ the rules are wrong and must change. Government has hugely restricted the right to protest & there is no chance of this reducing public confidence, it’s a matter of conscience.
