“Some had their disability aids removed by photographers. Other children have been altered with editing software or banned from their class photos entirely.” I expose how the “erased disabled kids” scandal was not a one-off - and what it says about us. theguardian.com/commentisfree/…

Chris was a leader to aspire to - someone who made it all look easy, who undertook the task with empathy and a sense of humour. He provided huge support to me as Director of ISS21. A devastating loss. My thoughts are with his family & friends.

The challenge for new Cabinet Committee and govt as a whole is to properly plan *and* deliver ethical assessments and services for disabled people which fully meet UNCRPD and recognise the cost of disability. Employment does not make disability disappear or substitute supports.

There is no such thing as “a sick note culture.” There is a record high NHS waiting list, crippling housing costs, widespread food poverty, stagnant wages and inadequate benefit rates, a broken social care system, dire mental health services, and closed Sure Start centres.

Disabled people having vouchers instead of cash benefits buys into the idea we are scroungers who can’t be trusted not to spend the cash on fags and booze. When the Tories get their arse handed to them at the election, I’m spending my PIP on fucking champagne.

Celebrating the extraordinary contribution of Piaras Mac Éinrí to UCC Ireland. Thank you from all AppliedSocialStudies. We will miss your collegiality, expertise, integrity, friendship, & unique capacity for making (good) trouble. Thankfully we're assured he's not going to stay too quiet in retirement.

Job coaches sent to mental health wards is clearly obscene but it’s the natural end point of an agenda that equates health with productivity. If you believe humans are only valuable when they earn a wage, the NHS is a tool - not to help patients - but to get them back to work.
