Whether the official history is formally part of the Legacy Act or not is irrelevant. Both intend to control and limit knowledge about the Troubles, in order to exonerate the British state - the same that'd rather pursue journalists working on collusion than murderers.

Even the phrase ‘economic inactivity’ is bs. It’s a measure of someone’s worth based on what they spend. But it makes no sense because staying alive and breathing has an economic cost and benefit no matter who you are. If that person eats, puts on their lights, watches tv.

Ultimately, it is the job of the union to fight for its students - something TCD Students' Union 🇵🇸🏳️‍🌈 does by exhausting every avenue it can, including direct action.

The obscene & immoral Legacy Act comes into force at midnight. It's an absolute insult to those who died in the Troubles. Every political party & victims' group in NI opposes it. Yet the British Government carries on regardless. They are literally murdering justice.

Today marks the 50th anniversary of the Imperial Typewriters strike in Leicester. The strike mainly involved South Asian women who faced discrimination in the workplace.

They lacked union support and their picket lines were attacked by the National Front but they fought back.🧵
