Met some lovely people out today with Gita Bapat for the Shortlands by-election. Lot of positivity for the Lib Dems - folks fed up with Conservatives and looking change locally. Local Lib Dems being community campaigners first and foremost really resonating.

This morning Will and I met with Bromley’s Police Superintendent and local police to discuss recent incidents in Beckenham, planning for summer events and crime concerns from residents and businesses. Good to get a list of actions to work on.

It’s wonderful to see the £20k Jubilee funds I successfully bid for get spent on #Beckenham Green. All four of the containers facing the High St have been replanted. They don’t look much now, but in the summer they should be glorious. Thanks to the Green Friends for their help.

Terrible news there has been a stabbing on a train at Beckenham Junction around 4pm today. Heart goes out to victim. British Transport Police are appealing for witnesses - contact BTP by texting 61016 or by calling 0800 40 50 40, quoting reference 397 of 27/03/2024.

Last week had the pleasure of talking to students at St Olaves about the role of a Councillor, being the prospective parliamentary candidate for Beckenham & Penge and Lib Dems in Bromley. They had great questions for me and ran an impressive Political Awareness Week event.
