The human mind cannot evade its obligation to a higher power. Despite theories and speculations and trying to set science in opposition to revelation, the command remains: 'Thou shalt worship the Lord thy God, and Him only shalt thou serve.' Matthew 4:10. (Adapted from P&K 624.3)

"Our willingness towards injustice in the little things, prepares the heart to do greater injustice; when we gain advantage at the disadvantage of another, our soul becomes insensible to the influence of the Spirit of God. Gain obtained at such a cost is a fearful loss" PK 652.1.

Yes! True repentance involves feelings of guilt and shame. We can't reject those emotions wholesale and still hold to the power of the soul-cleansing experience of hating what we did and even what we are, then finding that God forgives what we did and redeems what we are.

"While God has desired to teach men that from His own love comes the Gift which reconciles them to Himself, the archenemy of mankind has endeavored to represent God as one who delights in their destruction" EGW/Prophets & Kings p. 685

After 70 years in exile, God sought to restore His people, but instead of embracing God's plan to become a blessing to the world, a new extreme was chosen. Outward service was rendered as a means of attaining national greatness' they chose isolation, driven by selfish motives.

"The Israelites' departure from God's law, culminating in their rejection of the Messiah, sealed their fate as a nation. However, history bears witness to true representatives of God throughout the ages. Though Babylon has fallen, a faithful remnant remains devoted to Him"

The oracles of God rest upon those who humble themselves & remain steadfast in their faith. While the organized church is not without fault, we must remember: the responsibilities & privileges of the Gospel do not solely rest on the institution, but on each of us individually.

There are many from whom hope has departed. Bring back the sunshine to them. Many have lost their courage. Speak to them words of cheer. Pray for them. There are those who need the bread of life. Read to them from the word of God. EGW/P&K p. 719.2
