The Maynooth IFUT position remains that staff should elect staff representatives to our Governing Authority. This issue has now been picked up by Times Higher Education 👇 timeshighereducation.com/news/universit…

Given that role of a universities Governing Authority is oversight, and all we see about institutions failing to have appropriate oversight (👋 RTÉ One ) it’s such a weird and backward step to remove the small amount of democratic oversight from Maynooth universities.

"Members of IFUT have decided not to engage in the process to nominate new governing authority members. Union members are also in favour of holding a vote of no-confidence in the current governing authority who signed off on the changes." IFUT independent.ie/irish-news/may…
