My first Turtle Dove of 2025 was heard this morning at Fen Drayton RSPB It was the highlight from a walk around Ferry Lagoon Also noted were 2 Cuckoo a male Marsh Harrier 15 Cattle Egret 14 Swift 2 Oystercatcher a Great Egret & the usual mix of singing Warblers Cambs Bird Club

Incredible weekend. Headed west to see Large Blue, 6 seen. Also Ruddy Duck, Glossy Ibis, Purple Emperor, Wood White, c100 Purple Hairstreak. Finished off with catching the Ouse Fen Pratincole, great find by Rachel Lennard Brendan Doe. Cambs Bird Club


Fen Drayton & Ouse Fen were relatively quiet yesterday in the blazing heat but some highlights included both Great Spotted & Greenpeckers at the former plus Turtle Dove heard from the busway path. At the latter, GWE, Marsh Harrier & Bearded Tit heard from reedbed Cambs Bird Club

Low water levels at PaxtonNR has increased the Wader population on the heronry lakes to 5 Green and 1 Common Sandpiper The low levels also enticing 6 Little Grebe 7 Lapwing a Great Egret 2 Little Egret and an impressive 22 Moorhen to search for food Cambs Bird Club

Now that the tip at Tanholt is no longer processing waste, these juv Yellow-legged gulls will be prized year ticks in the PBC area. This one was found by Josh Jones on Rectory Pit, Etton, Cambs on the 17/07 Cambs Bird Club

Excellent start to the ringing season at Clopton, South Cambridgeshire- 500 warblers from 6 visits with record numbers of Sedge & Reed Warblers. Willow, Grasshopper, Garden and Lesser Whitethroat increasing and first passage Redstart yesterday. Cambs Bird Club
