CNU and affiliated designers visited a sprawling part of Charlotte to plan the transition of a 16-acre shopping center into a mixed-use center, with connections to UNC Charlotte. Temporary public space drives suburban retrofit. #CNU31 #CNULegacy CNU CLT cnu.org/publicsquare/2…

Jeff Speck Congress for the New Urbanism Tesho Akindele Agree 💯! Last time I was in Charlotte was 12-13 yrs ago. The downtown has come a long way and was quite enjoyable. Addition of public art really jumped out. As for the congress, loved having Strong Towns and #CNU31 together. Brought new energy, youth, and ideas in. 👏👏

Taiwo Jaiyeoba, City Manager, City of Greensboro: If you want to find problems, all cities & towns have problems…however, cities are the centers of excellence….no monument has ever been built & dedicated to a critic. There will always be naysayers. #CNU31 #CityPlanning

Seth Borman @clairebennie The best quote I heard at #CNU31 was that “Great Architecture was the world’s first victim of cancel culture”.

Over 1,300 urbanists came to Charlotte for this years’ Congress for the New Urbanism Congress. This was my first time going, but it definitely won’t be my last! Here are a few of my takeaways from the week 🧵
