#Zambia will receive around USD5.5 million from the UN Central Emergency Relief Fund (CERF - The UN's emergency fund) to fight drought. 7.5 million people in 84 most affected districts will be assisted with emergency food aid, clean water, protection and health services, among others. Ireland joins food insecurity fight

In response to the call by President Hakainde Hichilema for the international community to assist Zambia manage the impending food insecurity due to drought, Ireland has committed €300,000 to the cause through the World Food Programme (WFP).

WFP in collaboration with Ministry of Green Economy and Environment - Zambia via Meteorological Department have installed 265 community rain gauges empowering smallholder farmers with crucial climate services.
