Chilblains is an inflammation of the vessels in the hands and feet caused by exposure to cold. Swelling of the affected fingers or toes may result (see ring finger in photo), with itchy/sore patches and blisters. The reddening may be subtle, especially on darker skin. #MedTwitter

Pastia lines, or Pastia's sign, are caused by petechiae in creases of the skin during a scarlet fever infection. These lines are almost inevitably described as red or pink, but as seen in the above photo, may not appear at all red or pink on skin of color. #medt
