How many people have to die before anything changes to prevent this from happening?

I guess 40,000+ a year isn’t enough dead bodies to bring change.

Shortly after that post was published StreetsLA responded to SBLA that even though the BSS website lists these projects as completed, they are still working on designing the ADA ramps - and plan to install them at an unspecified future date.

Ran into Metro Los Angeles outreach table on the G/Orange Line bikeway near Sepulveda. They led off with “did you know that this path is going to be closed for 3 years starting this summer?” Surface streets detour planned from near Sepulveda Station to near Van Nuys Station.

According to Cal Veh Code § 21229 bikes shall ride only on the painted gutter “bike lane” (class ii) unless turning, overtaking or avoiding debris.

As far as I understand it is illegal to ride on the much safer sidewalk.

There is no such laws for class IV bike lanes.

How are we gonna justify building more infrastructure if we build unsafe bike lanes that make people not wanna ride?

Cities will use the lack of demand for their dangerous bike lane as an excuse to not expand.

I insist that roads must be built safe.

If it’s not safe it is INDEED USELESS.

If you advocate or build a dangerous road then you are promoting people getting hurt and killed.

Why would you possibly promote riding a dangerous road with 50mph traffic ?!?!?!

There’s supposed to be a bike signal installed here at some point but til then I feel like it’s more dangerous having two right turn lanes ram into you as you try to cross sepulveda when you get a green

If you’re gonna be a streets advocate don’t post a video of a clearly dangerous street and be like “this is great”.

I lost so much respect for you just now bro. You’re being negligent again.

This is why people don’t want to ride bikes.

We get DEADLY garbage unsafe infrastructure but “far better than it was before” 🥴

This type of “bike lane” discourages people from riding. Because it is DANGEROUS.

PAINT IS NOT INFRASTRUCTURE
