People will see photos like this and still say we need to destroy national parks and nature reserves to build more housing. We need to stop building our cities around cars and start building them around humans. It’s bad for our economy, the environment and our communities.

We released our vision for Venice Blvd in 2019 with veniceblvdforall.com

Last year, nearly 4 miles went in between National and Inglewood.

This project would get it another 4 miles east and closer to DTLA!

Our plan to get it through DTLA:

It’s great that we’re paying attention to how deadly PCH is.

In addition, we cannot overlook the fact that the design is deadly to begin with.

- Often no sidewalks
- No safe bike lanes
- Wide car lanes that encourage speeding

We should fix the design. Caltrans District 7

HLA implementation is likely to come back to T-Committee on June 5.

Between now and then, we expect the City will not be repaving any corridors that have Mobility Plan treatment.

If you hear/see otherwise, let us know.

We’ll keep an eye on this, from what we know Virgil will still be repaved (and bike lane installed per HLA) but not until next fiscal year (beginning July 1)

We’re so excited that the City has applied for a $20M grant to make Venice Blvd a complete street between National and Arlington! 👏 Councilwoman Heather Hutt

- Bus boarding islands
- Concrete protected bike lanes
- Bike signals
- Curb ramps

We’ll know in October if the City wins.

Like the CAO announced, it's officially official as of this week that Measure HLA is the law of the land. Check the city's maps to see where bus/bike/walk improvements are coming to L.A. neighborhoods la.streetsblog.org/2024/04/11/mea…

While Paris captures all the headlines, Lyon is quietly undergoing its own vélorution.

“Les Voies Lyonnaises” will invest €500 million in 396 kilometers of infrastructure by 2030—putting 99% of its 2.3 million metropolitan residents within 10 minutes of a high-quality facility.

✅ Passed transportation committee: SB1271, our bill with Senator Dave Min, which requires e-bikes and e-scooters to have safe and high quality batteries and high quality manufacturing standards. Let's go!

“For all the good they do, fire departments have increasingly emerged as a primary force preventing cities from embracing walkability, safer streets, transit, and affordable housing.” - Brad Hargreaves

Like many of LA’s earliest transit ideas, the cycleway was privately owned. This and the red/yellow car systems were sold off and dismantled.

Imagine if we had acquired the systems and made them public, improving them over time.

We had a wide ranging discussion with the General Manager of LADOT Laura Rubio-Cornejo yesterday.

We covered HLA implementation, Vision Zero, curb space, peak hour lanes, signal preemption for Metro Los Angeles and much more.

Thanks for the time, Laura!

“[Mayor Anne Hidalgo] often says ‘I was elected two times, with the opposition of the automotive lobby’. In 2024, nobody requests to open again the highway on the Seine, no one wants the Seine urban park to be open for cars.” - Carlos Moreno | IAE-Paris Sorbonne
