The so-called decolonization of education, curriculum, & pedagogy means absolutely nothing without material changes. Student movements are creating the conditions possibility of building an ethically & politically committed university linked to liberation.

It cannot be stressed enough that academia is primarily a bourgeois institution, and even if liberatory texts are published within its walls, oppressive and, quite frankly, loser ideology is propagated relentlessly under the guise of nuance and “academic rigour”.

There’s lots of talk on the disconnect between radical theory and political praxis in academia. This disconnect is part of the very structure of the university. Classroom learning is primarily about articulating ideas coherently in relation to texts, not about inhabiting them.

Student protests at places like Columbia or Harvard terrify Zionists more than anything because the purpose of these places is to reproduce the elite. They know they have lost.

While white male academics worry that their historical dominance is being displaced in the Global North (it's not btw), they can rest assured that we continue to worship them in much of the Global South, relying on them to come enlighten us with their superficial observations.

Gen Musharraf was convicted for high treason by a court, the conviction was also later upheld by the SC. But Musharraf didn’t spend even a minute in jail. He was also given state burial. Blatant violation of Constitution and law. The usurpation of state power is unacceptable.

Gilgit-Baltistan has been massively oppressed and marginalised to the extent that even our minors have no legal safety. They can be abducted and forced into marriages while the kangaroo courts allow it. This is what happens to a colonised people.

The Falak Noor case from Gilgit echoes the Dua Zehra case that made headlines two years ago. However, today's ruling shows that we have learned nothing from our past.
