Happy May Day! I was sorry to miss this year's #MayMorning celebrations Magdalen College. Here's William Holman Hunt's May Morning on Magdalen Tower, which I saw recently in the wonderful Victorian Radicals exhibition Birmingham Museum and Art Gallery.

Traditionally, on May Day, celebrations included dancing around the maypole and crowning a May Queen. 🌺

The earliest recording of dancing around the Maypole was in Wales in the 14th century, and this tradition soon spread.
