Twi is not Fante. It is a central Akan dialect from the central forest belt. Akan has 3 major branches: Bono, Twi, & Fante. Some linguists group Bono under Twi, but Fante remains distinct. Bono, Fante, & all Twi dialects descend from Proto-Akan, the ancestral language.

Fante Asafo Flags This is technically correct. Fante sounds like twi but it is not twi. Fante is a dialect of Akan. Asante Twi and Akuapem Twi are also dialects of Akan. All these three dialects of Akan have different and separate orthographies (writing systems). Fante is mutually intelligible
