Practical difficulties surrounding enforcement of an ill-conceived EO isn't the best defense of birthright citizenship, but it's a good line of questioning by Justice Kavanaugh.

TODAY: Andrea R. Flores joined The Weeknight on MSNBC to discuss the Supreme Court hearing on birthright citizenship and how the oral arguments made clear why weakening nationwide protections would have profound consequences and lead to chaos.

A SCOTUS ruling that narrows or lifts the injunction on the unconstitutional order to end birthright citizenship would create a fractured system where a child born in one state would be a citizen, while a child born the same day in another might not. Andrea R. Flores explains:

Some good news from the Supreme Court. The admin’s invocation of the Alien Enemies Act is completely inappropriate & it is not necessary to carry out deportations. Elected officials must push for the return of the individuals who have been wrongfully disappeared under Act.

And this part of today’s decision can’t be overstated ⬇️ Andry and ALL of the other sons, husbands & brothers who were disappeared with no due process 63 days ago remain in a torture prison in El Salvador as I write this. The fight to #FreeAndry and #BringThemBack continues.

Venezuelan immigrants have been uniquely singled out by this admin. Now, they are being stripped of the legal status that Congress specifically designed to protect refugee populations who cannot return home. This could have a devastating human cost.

This political arrest is a warning to all of us. Criminalizing Congressional oversight is a perfect example of how immigration policy can intersect with the legal rights of American citizens & why we should all be concerned about the record growth of immigration enforcement.

A great example of how lawmakers can hold the administration accountable for targeting immigrants with legal status.

This admin continues to test the courts on their immigration powers. This is why pushing for the return of the men wrongfully disappeared to El Salvador is necessary. If the admin can ignore the courts on immigration with impunity, they can ignore them on other issues as well.

Now is the time lawmakers to stand up for the judiciary. The admin has clearly ignored a co-equal branch of government.

This is absurd. Hope my alma mater continues to fight back against this blatant attack on its student body.
