Notably, the April ECMWF seasonal forecast for the upcoming summer was the warmest on record for Europe (among the April forecasts for 2017-2024).

In particular, the ensemble mean is the warmest (rank=1) widely in NE- and SE-Europe, excluding the Bothian Bay.

The State of the Global Climate report for 2023 is now out (wmo.int) which shows that the global ocean experienced an average daily MHW coverage of 32%, well above the previous record of 23% recorded in 2016.
