Annalise Klingbeil When we can get some 1 onto Alberta Works & Fair Entry the bus pass actually changes everything. This doesn't just harm folks in poverty, it makes it more difficult to assist them out of poverty, getting mental/physical health, It will increase our workload & cost the gov more

I covered a lot of council mtgs and I still remember this one.

The low income transit pass means people living in extreme poverty can take the bus for $5 a month.

They can get to appointments, classes & the grocery store. It's a lifeline.

UCP plan seems obvious at this point. Defund cities to increase misery, blame it on the councils, restrict their ability to take recourse, tell voters that parties will fix everything, and if that fails, give yourself the power to remove councillors and revoke bylaws.

A lot of Calgarians were/are also outraged at this council's decision (spearheaded by this councillor) to give hundreds of millions of public dollars to a hockey team owned by a billionaire so people can pay $200 a pop to watch millionaires play hockey...

Last January, I noticed something peculiar in my 2yo’s bedroom that - after a year of obsessive reporting - led me to a profound cosmic revelation about what’s even possible in our universe. A 🧵.

Guys I'm of course seeing all your posts about the paywall. I don't know what to tell you: it costs money to pay reporters and editors. 'Offer the stories people want to read for free and paywall others!' is not a business strategy. theglobeandmail.com/canada/article…

Saw this comment and realized it's a great teachable moment to explain why you wouldn't have seen this story on the 6 p.m. newscast.
So here's a thread on how the journalism 'sausage' is made.
(No rude comments to this person I quote tweeted, please).

An honour to be recognized as the star of a podcast that was voted to have the ‘Play of the Year’ simply by winning the vote. This is a testament to our hard work of aggressively rigging the voting process.

Alberta, open pit coal mines are back. Great interview w High River Mayor Snodgrass about why they're a terrible idea for our water, why it makes NO financial sense & why we can't trust the govt or the AER to act in our interests. This is trouble. Pls RT edmonton.ctvnews.ca/mobile/video?c…

The folks saying RCG zoning will cause the sky to fall said the same thing for years & years & years about legalizing secondary suites city wide.
When that FINALLY happened in 2018 (after 10+ years of debate) the sky did not fall. More people had a roof over their head.
