One of the effects of sustainability policies is that our (customs) problems are now everyone's problems. Basically, customs compliance (or lack of thereof) that we've seen for years, will now be highlighted as part of the implementation of all these policies.

"The moment policymakers set unrealistic standards, I as a businessman will forge my papers" - from a #WTOPublicForum panel. Something I wish policymakers took to heart. Policies not designed with implementation in mind, don't work.

Only now realised that I did a WTO Public Forum panel on Friday the 13th. All things considered, it went quite well...

Hallelujah! HMRC's guidance finally includes sections that talk about the fact that the importer is always liable for data submitted on their behalf.
