Angela Reiersen, MD, MPE Interesting to see how people respond to this and who retweets it. Mainly 2 groups:
1) those who want to spread the word that COVID can lead to reactivation of other viruses.
2) those who falsely claim my multiple infections must have been caused by having huge# of COVID shots.

How fun. Now I have COVID for the 5th time, and I am simultaneously having a shingles outbreak. Turns out there is some evidence COVID may increase the risk for a shingles outbreak in people over 50.

An important new study published in The Lancet Infectious Diseases found SARS-CoV-2 virus proteins persisting in blood in about 25% of people who had COVID up to 14 months prior. polybio.org/covid-19-virusโ€ฆ Comparison blood drawn pre-COVID showed only 2% assay positivity.

Sometimes, good, important studies don't receive enough attention or coverage in the media.

Often, people associate as a disease that is only present in previously immunocompromised or older people. This is not true.

Tomaz Bratanic Any biology diagram. I love the images DALL-E can create but it utterly fails at biology diagrams.

Here's another example

I asked ChatGPT to describe in detail the figure on the left and then try to regenerate it. The result is the completely useless figure on the right.

Eric Fauman Hao Yin I tried all sorts of descriptions to try to get AI copilot to diagram proteins & cellular organelles of ER stress response...All the results were very weird and inaccurate, but this one looked cool, so I called the design 'NOT the endoplasmic reticulum' and put it on a t-shirt.

At this point the inadequacy of ChatGPT and DALL-E in generating biologically meaningful diagrams is apparent to all: frontiersin.org/articles/10.33โ€ฆ
Does anyone know of anyone working to address this?

How many , , post-infectious disease patients, and their respective loved ones are active on Twitter? It would be great to get a rough estimate of how many folks we can mobilize. Please like and RT. Let's see if this works.

Philadelphia Inquirer: Ongoing breathing problems continue after COVID

'it became especially hard to breathe when he was lying flat. He said trying to draw in a breath felt like hitting a wall. He spent the next six months sleeping upright in a recliner'

An interesting study posted by few, which I reposted, but which seems to have gone unnoticed.

Every time I see a early/mid career physician post something like:

โ€œDue to my medical issues, I can no longer operate/ see patients/ work full timeโ€ฆโ€

It pains me.

Many physicians have retired in the past several years & so many seem sick.

Yes, Iโ€™m biased.
But concerned.

My processing speed was in the 96th percentile (meaning it was higher than 96% of people who took the test).

After I got COVID and my brain issues started, I did the same testing with the same provider, and my processing speed had dropped to the 14th percentile.

Brain fog in is not โ€˜all in the mindโ€™.
It is in the brain.
It is caused by visible biological processes.
We can see it on MRI scans.
You know, by using our eyes ๐Ÿ‘€
