Some excellent concussion insight here FrejaPetrie and worth engaging Michele Amos to discuss further.

🏉Concussed players can feel isolated during recovery
🏉Volunteer medical support often lack knowledge on concussion protocol
🏉Players want more info on recovery

“As much as we strive to enhance player safety and reduce concussion, the reality is a level of risk will always be present. However, acknowledging this reality does not absolve us of the responsibility to continuously work towards minimising these risks.”

Alison Heathman Stephen Thompson MBE Dr Johnny Bananas Head injury medical support st school level is variable and likely depends entirely on funding available

I am really pleased to see some schools ensuring very significant support for this and that needs to happen across the country - but it needs funding

David Loane Colin Doherty Trinity College Dublin I don't know. Your politician from dept of sport didn't inspire confidence

Instead of adopting hugely successful approach of Scotland, UK, Aus and NZ seemed to favour each sport setting its own guidance.

same injury no matter rules of sport

neil orpen Stephen Thompson MBE Dr Johnny Bananas Sadly..that's why the court case is so important...those suffering need WR to stop swimming in the 'river of denial'...and step up to protect/educate staff/players top down bottom up..there are no medics at school matches

Nathan 100% agree.

Both codes have an element of risk that make them great to play and watch.

But it doesn’t mean you shouldn’t mitigate risk and protect players against long term brain health issues, so they remember the game as fondly as you do.

Most changes needed are off field.

Andrew Watkins Stephen Thompson MBE Alix Popham They talk the talk...then don't walk the walk ...sadly for all those we've lost, are still suffering....or more worryingly...yet to find out 🙄😬

Alix Popham In 2002 NZ Rugby document states: “Repeated concussions may cause permanent damage to the brain.” 22 years is a long time to stand on the sidelines when they have recognised the correlation. Is 22 years really acceptable? Prevention and education is better than cure 🧠🏉😡

neil orpen Dr Johnny Bananas Said it before, will say it again. World Rugby are just copying the NFL playbook on CTE. You wait, they'll set up their own 'scientific' body soon to publish papers 'proving' there's no such thing. I love this game, but hate the administrators.

Progressive Rugby Heartbreaking and thoughts with his family and friends. Seems apparent it’s an incredibly common phrase in the Southern Hemisphere. Let’s not look to downplay its significance and desensitise it’s a brain injury not just a head knock

Each of these cases is important as it uncovers how much was known and for how long

And still we are fighting for better conditions for players with brain injury

RIP Cory Heather. The outpouring of grief has been incredibly moving.

Wish NZ media didn’t persist with the term ‘head knock’ in such devastating circumstances.

It doesn’t accurately reflect the gravity of the brain injury Cory was unfortunate enough to sustain on Saturday.
