A refugee woman in Pakistan was beaten by police for filming their abuse. Her only “crime” was documenting violence. Refugees face daily threats, yet countries like the U.S., Australia & others stay silent on their applicants. Where is UNHCR? Where are the human rights orgs?

sbs.com.au/news/podcast/b… Episode 2 has dropped today. Statelessness is little known in Australia, but it is a problem here & around the world. Listen to those who are recognised by no country (And advocate for Australia to implement a statelessness visa)

Samima Amiri, Afghan women’s rights activist, says Pakistani police have increased arrests of Afghan migrants. She hid in a bathroom to avoid detention. “The situation of those awaiting resettlement is very serious.” Australia, U.S. & others must act to protect Afghan refugees.

Gus is still being punished. Statelessness exists in Australia. It can be solved - via a stateless person visa & pathway to permanence I've known Gus for years - he & society deserve better - we cannot have a stateless underclass sbs.com.au/news/podcast-e…

Mo Munshi is stuck in Mongolia due to a travel ban. His health is deteriorating - he will die unless the ban is lifted & he can come home. I represent Mo & can attest to the urgent need to bring him home. change.org/p/help-bring-o…

Liberty - released after 7 years of administrative detention BIG win for accountability! 🇦🇺 Federal Circuit Court issued a scathing costs judgment against the Minister & Secretary for Home Affairs. Ordered indemnity costs (rare) finding they acted 'unreasonably' & 'ought to have

I’ll definitely be raising a glass tonight🥂to celebrate this moment. I get asked how I stay focused and committed to cases and issues that drag out for far longer than they should or seem to be far too challenging to get a positive outcome. This is why. ⬇️ Pushing for basic

I was honoured to be invited to the University of Western Sydney’s Law School’s 30th anniversary and hear The Hon Virgina Bell AC speak. Her telling of Tuckiar v The King was captivating - and the lesson applies today. Where the laws are clear and the judiciary are impartial even

Through my work, I often hear of Iranian foreign interference - unknown people standing in front of houses, calls from Iranian Government officials, social media posts being removed. Constant surveillance in Australia & of families in Iran. Australia needs to take this

I marched for humanity as well. Violence and war creates more violence and war. I'm not on any side except that of peace and humanity.
