Note to UK Prime Minister to reflect.

Also I wonder where does the staunch defender of British Jews and their way of life Suella Braverman MP stand on all night House of Lords and House of Commons on the Seder evening when we retell story of Exodus and welcome unknown stranger.

Suella Braverman calls for Met chief Mark Rowley to quit, telling the force has “chosen a side” on pro-Palestinian marches.

(Reminder: she was sacked as Home Sec in row over piece accusing police of bias over protest marches)

Having now seen the longer video of the police interaction with Gideon Falter, I see that we have been misled.

The officer may have been more careful with his words, but Mr Falter was provocative to the point that an arrest for breach of the peace might have been justified

This morning, Rishi Sunak said: “Last year, for the first time, the number of small boat crossings were down by 36%.”

At the same time, the Home Office put out stats showing the number of crossings has gone UP this year by 24%.

Trade barriers hit smaller companies hardest. Regulatory burdens have a similar effect. That has helped shape the modern trade we have dominated by larger companies. Which is an uncomfortable truth across the political spectrum. ft.com/content/6d0865…

It blows my mind that this isn't referenced in every bit of (non-client media) coverage of Rwanda.

It's an astonishing waste of money and human potential apart from the cruelty to the individuals involved. And obviously completely unsustainable.

This degree of media attention on parliamentary ping-pong for a Bill is unusual. So important to stress that it is a standard, normal part of the legislative scrutiny process. What is unusual (historically, tho not in recent years) is the Govt's intransigent attitude to amdts.

Really Suella Braverman MP you haven’t seen the whole video. It’s just not good enough to say ‘I’ve seen enough’. You can’t just close your eyes to the full facts.

So not only is previously-free protest now criminalised, but it can also result in your losing your livelihood when you clearly pose zero risk to patients or the profession.

Dr Benn deserves better from @theGMC, who are not as constrained as they claim.

It'll be a long night. My best guess: the Lords will dig in. If you don't dig in for a policy violating human rights, not in a manifesto, proposed by a government that is not legitimized through an election and not supported by a majority of the population - when do you?

Well, there are some ifs and buts.

1. House of Lords still has to pass the Bill
2. Even as drafted the Bill allows some (v narrow) routes for challenge in the UK - including an interim remedy preventing or delaying removal if a person would face imminent risk of serious harm …

German Ambassador to the UK showing support for the European Commission approach to negotiating with the UK on youth mobility. Once again emphasising the aim for broad unity of the EU towards the UK, and that just saying 'no' isn't really a very good answer.

The biggest obstacle to climate action is the fossil fuel industry. The second biggest are the Serious People who accept climate science but say it's unrealistic to cut emissions at the pace experts say is needed.
