Having now seen the longer video of the police interaction with Gideon Falter, I see that we have been misled.

The officer may have been more careful with his words, but Mr Falter was provocative to the point that an arrest for breach of the peace might have been justified

This morning, Rishi Sunak said: “Last year, for the first time, the number of small boat crossings were down by 36%.”

At the same time, the Home Office put out stats showing the number of crossings has gone UP this year by 24%.

This degree of media attention on parliamentary ping-pong for a Bill is unusual. So important to stress that it is a standard, normal part of the legislative scrutiny process. What is unusual (historically, tho not in recent years) is the Govt's intransigent attitude to amdts.

Really Suella Braverman MP you haven’t seen the whole video. It’s just not good enough to say ‘I’ve seen enough’. You can’t just close your eyes to the full facts.

So not only is previously-free protest now criminalised, but it can also result in your losing your livelihood when you clearly pose zero risk to patients or the profession.

It'll be a long night. My best guess: the Lords will dig in. If you don't dig in for a policy violating human rights, not in a manifesto, proposed by a government that is not legitimized through an election and not supported by a majority of the population - when do you?

2. Even as drafted the Bill allows some (v narrow) routes for challenge in the UK - including an interim remedy preventing or delaying removal if a person would face imminent risk of serious harm …
