Today marked the final day in uniform for our Battalion Quartermaster Sergeant Peter Long as he retired from Óglaigh na hÉireann after 42 years of distinguished service to the state. We wish him well in his future endeavours.👏

Incoming Fire! Today, 27 Inf Bn personnel were assessed on their mortar drills.The Mortar Denel Vektor M1 60mm is designed for use by infantry units in all phases of operations. It is a smooth bore, muzzle loaded, high angle fire weapon. 💥💥💥

Today was a significant day for 27 Infantry Battalion and for one prominent Dundalk family with a proud Reserve Defence Forces (Ireland) heritage. It was Captain Joe McGuinness' last Annual Range Practice and the first for his son, Private Cian McGuinness. (Good marksmanship runs in the family!)

Last week 27 Infantry Battalion finished assisting HSE CH CDLMS at the Cavan #COVID19 vaccination centre. DF personnel were involved in logistics & pharmacy support roles as well as the successful children’s vaccination programme. #StrengthenTheNation 🇮🇪
