Last week, Officers from Defence Forces Engineer Corps participated in the European Defence Agency Consultation Forum for Sustainable Energy in the Defence and Security Sector in Bordeaux. The forum covered multiple topics, including implementation of renewables and energy efficiency solutions



The Defence Forces Adventure Race took place this week in West Wicklow.
2-person teams made their way around a 5-hour, mixed terrain course on foot, mountain bike and kayak, testing their navigation, endurance & teamwork.

The DF 10 mile road race was held in Haulbowline yesterday Irish Naval Service. The event was suberbly ran as usual.
Mens Champion was Pte Gary Walsh of 1 BAR.
Women’s Champion was Lt (NS) Tahlia Britton of the Naval College.

The 2022 DF Medical Services Gaelic Football final was held this afternoon in the Curragh.
28 Infantry Battalion lined up against the 2 Brigade HQ team in this eagerly anticipated & very tight match. 28 Infantry Battalion won on a score line of 1-13 to 1-08 after extra time.


The Defence Forces held a Commissioning Ceremony this afternoon for Captain Ben Jacob in Ceannt Officer's Mess in the Curragh.
Captain Jacob has taken up his role in DF School of Music Defence Forces School of Music (Ireland). We wish Ben well in his future career with us!

This month, 2 Brigade Artillery Regiment ran training for Gaisce - The President's Award, a self development programme for young ppl.
Participants underwent a variety of instructional blocks from map reading and navigation to confidence & adventure training & an overnight excursion in the Slieve Blooms.

The Military All Ireland hurling competition took place last week in Galway. This involved teams from every barracks from Donegal to the Irish Naval Service base in Cork.
Winners of the Parsons Cup were Irish Air Corps & winners of the Chaplins Cup were 3 Infantry Battalion.


65th Infantry Group FRC Engineer Specialist Search and Clearance (ESSC) Team this week completed a Deliberate Search and Clearance Operation in support to the FRC EOD Team UN Disengagement Observer Force
ESSC was required due to the known presence of Explosive Remnants of War and Unexploded Ordnance.
