Another interesting take on the crisis plaguing the African Academy of Sciences. Specifically, that perhaps a grant-making role for what was designed as an academy wasn't such a great idea. The African Academy of Sciences is in crisis — responsibility must be shared nature.com/articles/d4158…

In our study funded by Signe och Ane Gyllenbergs stiftelse sr, metabolic syndrome and its components were common among migrant origin persons with depressive and anxiety symptoms. Cardiometabolic health should be considered in mental health services. @anu_castaneda Prof Charles Agyemang Tiina Laatikainen Päivikki Koponen

🧵 “Building trust in society is key to making us all healthier” - Prof Charles Agyemang has spent years with Amsterdam UMC researching inequality and its effect on health. For him, a lack of trust results in less visits to your GP and, as result, more illness. amsterdamumc.org/en/spotlight/g…

Interesting discussions on the researcch agenda on migrant health WHO/Europe migration and health network meeting at The Italian National Institute for Health, Migration and Poverty in Rome. Interesting to also hear about collagues’ plans and initiatives.

According to Prof Charles Agyemang, Professor of Global Migration, Ethnicity & Health, the findings were not surprising as "the social determinants of health that shaped the disproportionately high rate of COVID-19 infection and deaths in ethnic minority and migrants are still at play."

Our paper on long COVID just got published in a very important journal PLOS Medicine. We found a higher risk of long COVID in ethnic minorities. The paper can be found here: journals.plos.org/plosmedicine/a…. Thank you all collaborators Prof Charles Agyemang Marie Nørredam Thomas Benfield
