30 April 1964 – The Beatles perform two shows this evening at the Odeon Cinema in Glasgow. Beforehand, they are interviewed by BBC Scotland for news programme ‘Six Ten’, broadcast tonight, and for Scottish Television’s ‘Roundup’ show, which will be shown on 5 May. #TheBeatles

29 April 1964 – The Beatles fly to Edinburgh in Scotland this afternoon to perform two shows at the ABC Cinema on Lothian Road. The band are interviewed in their dressing room by BBC Radio Scotland beforehand and stay at the Roman Camp Hotel in Callander, Perthshire. #TheBeatles

29 April 1964 – The Beatles visit Madame Tussaud’s wax museum in London to see their models, which had been unveiled to the public on 28 March. The figures will be loaned from the museum in 1967 to appear on the cover of the Sgt Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band album. #TheBeatles

28 April 1964 – The Beatles are at the Wembley Studios in London to record TV special ‘Around The Beatles’. They mime to seven songs and star in a spoof of Shakespeare’s ‘A Midsummer Night’s Dream’. The hour-long show, featuring guests, is shown in the UK on 6 May. #TheBeatles

27 April 1964 – The Beatles undertake a full dress-rehearsal in front of a live audience at Wembley Studios in London, ahead of tomorrow’s ‘Around The Beatles’ TV special taping. Elsewhere, the single ‘Love Me Do/PS I Love You’ is issued in the USA by Vee-Jay Records. #TheBeatles

26 April 1964 – The Beatles perform live for the first time since 16 February with a five-song set in front of 10,000 fans at the New Musical Express Poll Winners’ Concert at the Empire Pool in Wembley, London. The band receive their NME Awards from actor Roger Moore. #TheBeatles

25 April 1964 – ‘Around The Beatles’, a TV special featuring the band as well as other UK chart stars, will be filmed on 28 April. Today the performers, including Cilla Black and PJ Proby, gather at the Hall of Remembrance in Chelsea, London, to rehearse for the show. #TheBeatles

24 April 1964 – Filming for The Beatles’ debut movie wraps today, though only Ringo is present at Edgehill Road in London to shoot the final part of his solo sequence. In the evening, the band, the cast and crew celebrate in the Turks Head pub in Twickenham, London. #TheBeatles

23 April 1964 – It’s three of The Beatles’ last day of shooting for ‘A Hard Day’s Night’ as only Ringo is needed tomorrow. They film at the Thornbury Playing Fields in Isleworth. Later, John attends a literary lunch held in his honour at the Dorchester Hotel, London. #TheBeatles

22 April 1964 – There’s just a couple of days left of shooting for The Beatles’ debut movie ‘A Hard Day’s Night’, and today the band filmed location shots at the Hammersmith Odeon cinema, on St Luke’s Road in Notting Hill Gate and in Lancaster Road, all in London. #TheBeatles

20 April 1964 – The Beatles have the day off, with the exception of Paul who films his solo scenes for the band’s debut film ‘A Hard Day’s Night’. The sequence is dropped from the final cut because of its lack of pace and the footage is subsequently destroyed. #TheBeatles

19 April 1964 – The Beatles visit the IBC Studios in London to re-record seven songs plus a medley of their recent hits for use in the upcoming TV special, ‘Around The Beatles’. While the performances in the show will be mimed, the new soundtrack makes it sound live! #TheBeatles

18 April 1964 – The Beatles are back at Twickenham Film Studios, not to shoot scenes for ‘A Hard Day’s Night’ but to record dialogue to be dubbed into the movie. Later, rehearsals begin for a one-hour TV special to be filmed on 28 April, titled ‘Around The Beatles’. #TheBeatles

17 April 1964 – The Beatles visit Les Ambassadeurs, a private members club in London, to film scenes for debut movie ‘A Hard Day’s Night’. Afterwards, the band are interviewed by Ed Sullivan in a clip to be broadcast in the USA on The Ed Sullivan Show on 24 May. #TheBeatles
