5 September 1964 – The Beatles’ North American tour continues with a show at the International Amphitheatre in Chicago. Afterwards, the band head straight to the airport to catch a flight to Detroit. They’ll return in 1966 to this venue, which was demolished in 1999. #TheBeatles

6 September 1964 – The Beatles play two shows at the Olympia Stadium in Detroit to a total of 30,000 fans. After checking out of the Whittier Hotel tomorrow morning, the boys’ sheets are bought by a radio station, who'll cut them into pieces and sell these to fans! #TheBeatles

7 September 1964 – The Beatles play two shows at the Maple Leaf Gardens in Toronto, Canada, in front of a total of 36,000 fans. The band’s stay at the King Edward Hotel in the city is interrupted when a 14-year-old girl is found hiding in their suite's linen closet… #TheBeatles

8 September 1964 – The Beatles’ North American tour continues with two concerts tonight at the Forum in Montreal, Canada. The band had received death threats from French-Canadian separatists so police sharpshooters were posted, but the shows passed without incident. #TheBeatles

9 September 1964 – The Beatles are due to fly from Montreal to Jacksonville, Florida, but are diverted to Key West thanks to Hurricane Dora. With no show tonight, the day is spent drinking and jamming with support acts on this tour, including Clarence ‘Frogman’ Henry. #TheBeatles

11 September 1964 – Brian Epstein’s NEMS Enterprises purchases Mornyork Ltd on behalf of George Harrison, who is on tour with The Beatles in the United States. George will turn this ‘shelf’ company into his own music publishing company, Harrisongs Ltd, in December. #TheBeatles

11 September 1964 – The Beatles perform for the first and only time in Florida with a show at the Gator Bowl in Jacksonville. Hurricane damage means 9,000 ticket holders can’t get to the venue. The band refuse to play until the audience is not racially segregated. #TheBeatles

12 September 1964 – The Beatles play a 12-song set at the Boston Garden in Boston, Massachusetts, in front of 14,000 fans. The supporting bill features The Bill Black Combo, The Exciters, Clarence ‘Frogman’ Henry and Jackie DeShannon. The venue was demolished in 1998. #TheBeatles

13 September 1964 – The Beatles visit Baltimore, Maryland, for the only time, playing two shows at the Civic Center to a total of 28,000 fans. The band spend the night at the Holiday Inn and police on horseback are deployed to prevent fans from storming the building. #TheBeatles

14 September 1964 – The Beatles perform in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania for the only time, at the Civic Arena. Elsewhere, Vee Jay Records send a promotional album called ‘Hear The Beatles Tell All’, featuring interviews with the band, to 7000 radio stations across the US. #TheBeatles

15 September 1964 – The Beatles play a show tonight at the Public Auditorium in Cleveland, Ohio. Moving the band from hotel to venue to airport is now a police operation usually reserved for presidents. Tonight’s show is temporarily stopped when fans rush the stage. #TheBeatles

16 September 1964 – The Beatles perform in New Orleans, Louisiana, for the only time, at the City Park Stadium in front of 12,000 fans, 200 of whom collapsed from exhaustion. The band asked to meet one of their heroes, Fats Domino, before the show, who duly obliged. #TheBeatles,

17 September 1964 – The Beatles are supposed to have a day off but a local promoter offers $150,000 for a 30-minute set at the Municipal Stadium in Kansas City, which the boys can’t turn down. The band add ‘Kansas City/Hey-Hey-Hey-Hey!’ to their usual 12-song set. #TheBeatles

18 September 1964 – The Beatles’ only performance in Dallas, Texas, takes place tonight at a sold-out Memorial Auditorium in front of 10,000 fans. A bomb threat delays the start of the show. The boys head to Dallas Love Field afterwards to catch a flight to Missouri. #TheBeatles

19 September 1964 – The Beatles take a day off to celebrate their manager Brian Epstein’s 30th birthday. They spend 36 hours on a ranch in Alton, Missouri, and go hiking, swimming, fishing and horse riding in the Ozark Mountains. #TheBeatles

20 September 1964 – The Beatles fly from Walnut Ridge Airport in Arkansas to New York to play a charity show for 4000 fans at the Paramount Theatre in aid of the United Cerebral Palsy of New York City and Retarded Infants Services. It’s the last date of their US tour. #TheBeatles

21 September 1964 – The Beatles wake up in the Riviera Motel, near John F Kennedy International Airport in New York. Shortly afterwards they board flight BC510 bound for London Airport, where thousands of fans are waiting to welcome them home from their US tour! #TheBeatles

25 September 1964 – The Beatles are enjoying some well-deserved time off following their 25-date tour of the United States & Canada. Elsewhere, Ringo sets up Brickey Building Company Ltd to give him and his fellow Beatles a reliable building and decorating service! #TheBeatles

27 September 1964 – While the other Beatles enjoy a few days off, Ringo is on a judging panel with Brian Epstein for the final of the National Beat Group competition at the Prince of Wales Theatre in London. None of the bands involved will go on to have a hit record. #TheBeatles
