Airwave from the impact of 2024 XA1 detected at CTBTO station I45. Based on the period of the signal the source energy is about 0.02 kT TNT. With entry speed of 15.5 km/s this corresponds to an object with mass of 700 kilograms and diameter of about 0.75-1 m. #2024XA1

#C0WEPC5 #2024XA1

Update on comet C/2026 A1 (MAPS)! Nicolas Lefaudeux has updated the brightness plot of Kreutz sungrazers and comet MAPS still seems to be in the "Medium Kreutz" range. However, its further brightness development will determine its fate. If MAPS follows the same rapid brightening

International Astronomical Union (IAU) The batch includes 33 new near-Earth objects (don't worry, none pose a threat!) and ~380 new worlds beyond Neptune. And this is just the start! Once Rubin's 10-year survey begins, discoveries like this will become routine.

That's us! 🌍 The Artemis II crew captured beautiful, high-resolution images of our home planet during their journey to the Moon. As Christina H Koch put it: "You guys look great."

BREAKING (not really): CCOR-2 imagery is here and we now have confirmation on what we already suspected, comet MAPS nucleus disintegrated before even reaching perihelion. Low quality video but it’ll do it just fine. Note the striking nucleus-less appearance after the 8th second.

Here we observe naked eye visible Comet C/2025 R3 PANSTARRS - taken from a remote probe in space (STEREO-A) - soon to pass in front of the Earth on April 25-26th. It has such a long tail (!), and you can see the plasma density of it is quite high compared to the solar wind! The

Day 22 of posting until a new kreutz comet is discovered, hopefully it won’t be long. Here’s mirrored video of C/2025 R3 to resemble C/2023 A3’s path in CCOR-1. Truly a MASSIVE difference, panSTARRS is nice but tsuchinshan was on another level and a comparison is not fair
