Israel’s renewed offensive on Gaza has killed many civilians over the weekend and targeted hospitals and medical staff - clear violations of international humanitarian law. This must end. We will urgently address the crisis with partners at the EHF tomorrow & Tuesday.

The #EuropeanUnion will stay. As a strong humanitarian partner, standing with those who need us most, no matter where they are, extending a hand, offering support, giving hope. This will not change. This was my message at the opening of #EHF2025.

This 4th European Humanitarian Forum is a crucial one. International Humanitarian Law is being violated. Humanitarian aid workers risk their lives to save lives. They must be protected. Our shared humanity & common future are at stake. #EHF2025

The EU, alongside 23 international partners, demands that Israel immediately resume full humanitarian aid access to #Gaza. The proposed new aid model is unacceptable. It politicises relief, endangers lives & undermines humanitarian principles. Needs on the ground are massive.

As summer begins, so do the risks of wildfires. 🇪🇺 is stepping up its preparedness: over 650 firefighters from 14 countries are prepositioned, with 22 planes & 4 helicopters on standby. 🇪🇸 plays a key role, hosting teams & rescEU Canadairs. This is European solidarity in action.

After severe flooding hit Romania’s Praid Salt Mine, 🇷🇴 activated the #EUCivilProtection Mechanism. A team of 8 experts from 🇩🇪🇭🇺🇳🇱🇪🇸 will be deployed to assess the damage on site. The ERCC remains in close contact with Romanian authorities. Read more: europa.eu/!fvYbvJ

The 🇪🇺 and 🇮🇹 joined forces to alleviate the suffering of Gaza patients: 17 patients and 52 companions were evacuated to 🇮🇹 with support from the #EUCivilProtection Mechanism and World Health Organization (WHO). The EU will continue to act to provide medical assistance to the wounded and sick.
