17 Jan 1916, 174 Tunnelling Coy blew a 15,000lbs mine at Bois Francais, Somme. 7 Bedfords ordered to gain the crater sent 2 bombing sections around the flanks while others dug to & consolidated the near side. After fighting for several hours the line was advanced 34-yards.

On the trail of 2/Lt Thomas Forster, 2/Royal Irish Regiment who fearlessly led patrols against Aeroplane Trench, Fricourt in May-June 1916. Inexplicably he wasn’t decorated for his bravery. Died of wounds and buried at Citadel

I've seen Thiepval Memorial dozens of times but I'm absolutely just blown away by being here for the first time at night, I'll admit it, it's made me proper sob😪 . Only me & the rain here but I tell you,it feels like I'm watched by a thousand eyes from those woods 👀

Another warm day on the Somme battlefields. The views from the jumping off points of 9th KOYLI and 10th KOYLI on 1st July 1916 near Bécourt across No Man’s Land . Both Bns paid an exceptionally heavy price as part of 64th Bde.
