“I can do actions that start with the letter sounds I am learning.” Outdoor learning in kinder is the best! #renewalsupportteacher Plymouth School #doyourbestanddowhatsright
“Letter leaves” in the kinder courtyard today! Some leaves had letters written on them and the kinders’ wrote the letters they have been learning on the leaves as well. They sorted the “letter leaves” by letter sound! Plymouth School #RST District School Board of Niagara
Can you match the letter on the dice to the first sound you hear when you say what is on the picture card? Listening for initial sounds is fun! #doyourbestanddowhatsright Plymouth School #rst
Whoa! It’s been awhile since I shared but here is a fun activity to practice segmenting and blending sounds. This friend is doing a great job learning digraphs :) Plymouth School
Sorting by initial sounds. The kinder kids listened to a word, isolated the initial sound and chose a post it with that letter and added it to the chart. They are rockstars! Plymouth School #doyourbestdowhatsright
Using a slinky to sound out words? Why not! Say a letter sound and the slinky moves out, when all the sounds have been said, the slinky comes together and you say the word! This helps our kinder friends sound out and make CVC words using letter tiles. Thanks Hogg’s Ones
Looking for a fun way to practice the phonics skills you have been working on with your kiddos? Write your target skill words on blocks and play a fun game! Pull a block, read the word! Thanks for the idea Jen Demers Plymouth School
Phonics instructions should be and can be engaging and fun! One way we are starting to play with words and sounds is by using word ladders. This grade one friend knew that “oo” was in the word “food”. We made our own ladder with other “oo” words! Plymouth School
We are using our new Bug Club books in our groups. We decided that this book needed some words and we labelled objects with the word or the initial sound! Great job kinders! #doyourbestanddowhatsright Plymouth School
Can you crack the code? Write and read the CVC word. Thanks for the idea K2-Stayzer Plymouth School
Word sorts are a great way to practice phonics skills. This group sorted these words according to the digraphs we have learned. They noticed that the word “which” could fit into two groups! #rst Plymouth School
Have you ever noticed that when you say the “tr” blend it can sound like the digraph /ch/? Last week the kiddos listened to a word and had to decide if it started with tr or ch. the kids had to slide down the “tr” slide or the /ch/ slide to show their answer! Plymouth School
Track and field day at Plymouth! Christie and Zanatta at the long jump pit, 2 years in a row! Thanks Travis Yando Darren Crowe for organizing Plymouth School
