I've been obsessed with The Warning all year - "Error" is 100% album of the year (their previous concept album is also perfect). What's utterly depressing as an amateur songwriter is that they were writing/performing songs like this when 12, 14 & 16. youtube.com/watch?v=E62SVv…

One of the things I miss most about Europe is transparent pricing. Booking a hotel in NYC is crazy. $250/night for 2 nights. Great, book it. Total... $780 inc fees and taxes. Oh and you also have to pay the hotel $60 a night when you get there for "resort fees" (WiFi, etc)

Running a company in Canada is more difficult than it should be. I can't send a foreign wire today (BMO) because it's a federal holiday, almost as if it relies on humans moving paper money between vaults. Why can't computers exchange messages on a federal holiday? Urgh.

Developers, I'm sorry to say this, but using a mechanical keyboard in an open plan office is the audible equivalent of microwaving fish. Don't do it.

Rarely do I get angry at how bad a movie is, but Bullet Train is one such movie. They clearly had budget and big names, but it tried SO hard and failed on every level. It was so painful to watch. In better news we re-watched Dirty Rotten Scoundrels and When Harry Met Sally.

I go to the CBC news website every day, and each time it makes me wonder how the most powerful media organisation in a G7 country thinks that this grid/layout is a good reading experience? (But am still a fan of the CBC regardless)

It’s pretty simple: Google Meet (original) was previously Meet, which was the rebranded Hangouts Meet. Meet has been merged with Google Duo, which replaced Google Hangouts. Google Duo has been renamed Meet, and Meet has been temporarily named Google Meet (original), for clarity

Anyone else noticing lots more ads in their feed? I reckon it’s about 20-25% ads in mine; Musk must’ve just yelled at them to turn them ā€œads per organicā€ knob up to max. It’s just a terrible experience.

Can we all agree that the new wave of ML-powered consumer apps is *actually* Web3, and not the blockchain-crypto-metaverse nonsense, no matter how much they try to claim the title before making anything useful?
