As bill filing opens today in the #ncga, my No. 1 question is: Are we ever gonna send some dedicated money to bars/businesses the state has ordered closed, or nearly closed, for the last 11 months? #ncpol

I know the Republican argument against this has been that the governor should let them open. But this state has had that debate several times now, and there are no time machines. If restrictions lifted tomorrow, how many could even try to open?

Seven states don't provide the governor authority to alter/suspend statues or regulations during emergencies. 34 states allow governor to suspend statute. Only one state (NC) allows the governor to create new statutes and regulations within an emergency. This was never intended.
