.CO Dept of Natural Resources Strategic Wildfire Action Program has $4 million available through their Workforce Development Grant to support wildfire mitigation projects and training opportunities. Apply now through Nov 1! Learn more on the COSWAP webpage: dnr.colorado.gov/divisions/fore…
This is an outstanding opportunity to have critical fire mitigation work done in the most vulnerable areas. We're so grateful to CO Dept of Natural Resources for investing in Colorado corps via CYCA in this work. This program saves infrastructure while changing the lives of corps members as well
We are writing an AmeriCorps mega-grant to renew the Colorado Climate Corps program. Within hours of asking CO Dept of Natural Resources/Colorado Parks and Wildlife/Colorado Water Conservation Board staff about particular data, we received detailed responses and everything we need. The best of public service, so appreciative!
This week there was a federal hearing on the impact of AmeriCorps. This agency represents the best of government, putting resources into proven solutions. Here in Colorado AmeriCorps members are removing invasive species that choke water headed to rural communities.
Coloradans would be dramatically less safe without AmeriCorps. Our members are working 12 months a year to reduce the threat of wildland fire, and make fire-devastated public land safe for people to return. Lives are being saved thanks to AmeriCorps.
Thank you, Governor Jared Polis! A significant amount of this investment will go to our AmeriCorps corps members to perform fire mitigation in Colorado’s most vulnerable areas. We will save lives, protect landscapes, and build a generation of leaders. This represents the best of government.
It's late on Friday, statistically the worst time to post, but we just can't wait! We've been competitively awarded a new TEN YEAR agreement with CO Dept of Natural Resources! This equates to thousands of jobs doing fire mitigation, outdoor rec infrastructure, and much more!
Communities win when we all work together. We are asking the White House and Congress to modernize and improve AmeriCorps, not end it and put lives and livelihoods in danger. AmeriCorps members ensure rural communities get water and we are safe from wildfires--and so much more
Our AmeriCorps members are amazing leaders who forego easy paths to serve communities. They choose to work in the dirt, serve long hours, and put others first. The agency is at-risk. Please contact your local legislator and ask for their support of AmeriCorps. It's critical.
The consequences of eliminating AmeriCorps are vast. Each part of our country would suffer their own dire outcomes, whether that's access to medical care, food, or housing. In Colorado, one consequence would be a drastic reduction in wildfire mitigation. We need AmeriCorps.
We applaud Governor Cox taking the threat of wildfire seriously. The loss of AmeriCorps NCCC meant the loss of their Forest Corps program, which was slated to do wildland fire mitigation in Utah this summer. Saving AmeriCorps means saving the lives of Utahns.
The Colorado Youth Corps team was in Colorado Springs for Colorado Parks and Wildlife’s Partners in the Outdoors conference. One key moment was briefing Governor Jared Polis on the threats to AmeriCorps funding and how any reduction in support severely degrades our wildfire mitigation efforts.
Urgent action needed! Almost19k AmeriCorps members can't begin service as grant funds are frozen by Office of Management and Budget & the President’s FY26 budget eliminates AmeriCorps. Ask Congress to take a #Stand4Service and support wildfire mitigation and other service: bit.ly/TakeActionAC
Our director, Scott Segerstrom, joined Senator John Hickenlooper yesterday along with outstanding leaders across the state and Serve Colorado to discuss how lives and livelihoods are endangered due to cuts in AmeriCorps. One example is potentially deadly cuts in wildfire mitigation.
Time for a #TBT to when Rep. Joe Neguse and Dan Gibbs visited a Larimer County Conservation Corps AmeriCorps fire crew at Lory State Park. This project is part of an ongoing fire mitigation program that uses @Americorps members across the state #SaveAmeriCorps Voices for National Service
Time for a #TBT to when Governor Jared Polis Polis and Dianne Primavera Primavera visited MileHighYouthCorps AmeriCorps fire crew in Green Mtn. Falls on Colorado Day on August 1st, 2022. This project was funded by the COSWAP program via CO Dept of Natural Resources which still saves lives. #SaveAmeriCorps Voices for National Service
