Despite it being correspondence #chess, some of my poor habits from OTB leak over such as impulsiveness. In this position, I was winning with white. There is only one winning move. I failed to find it, but fortunately, my opponent didn't find the refutation and I later won.

The only problem with playing correspondence #chess is that my blitz chess has diminished. I'm trying to think too much and not fast enough! However, my rapid play has improved.

Why do you enjoy #chess? I was thinking about it as I get back into playing and studying more these last few months. For me, I'd have to say it breaks down like this: Mastery of a skill/Challenge - 50% Competition (e.g. winning) - 40% Beauty/Aesthetic - 10% How about you?

Played a blindfold game against my son's friend over the phone - and won! My son called me while I was driving, so had to pull over to play. Of course, his friend was a beginner, but still felt good when he resigned. Vision wasn't 100% accurate, but still felt good!

So trying to get stronger for both general health and my sporting hobbies. My biggest challenge is eating enough protein to support my workouts. To my weightlifting friends, how do you do it?

This quote is from James Clear's newletter. It is similar to my thought that mastering one's craft is one of the most important things one can do in life.
