UNDP Nigeria with support from The Gov't of Japan continue to provide agric extension services to 2000 farmers across Borno, Yobe and Adamawa. These services are to increase local productivity and expose farmers to newly improved farming techniques. #EarlyRecoveryInNE 🇳🇬

With thanks to The Gov't of Japan, 250 youths in NG -Yobe State Gov't have been equipped with vocational skills and start-up cash grants for businesses. This intervention will help with the socio-economic recovery of conflict-affected communities in Northeast Nigeria.

The 250 youths were subjected to a robust 8weeks training in different marketable trades. The goal is to close the unemployment gap in these affected communities and link the youths with trending trades such as photography, cosmetology, shoe and bag production, ICT and others.

The conflict in northeast 🇳🇬 has affected the education sector, with schools being destroyed thereby increasing the number of out of school children. UN Development with support from The Gov't of Japan carried out a full renovation of two Government secondary schools in Adamawa State Government Yobe State Govt

Blocks of classrooms and hostels were renovated and equipped with solar power and furniture. Solar-powered water boreholes🚰 were provided in both schools, to ensure that the students are comfortable while they learn📚🎒 The Gov't of Japan

To strengthen local governance and reinstate the social contract between the govt and people, UNDP Nigeria with funding from The Gov't of Japan constructed the Monguno govt lodge. Monguno is the zonal HQ of the conflict affected Borno north and remains the socioeconomic hub for recovering

Communities of Baga, Marte, Gajiram, Gubio and others. The facility has also been supported with solar powered borehole, solar power and well furnished. Water reticulation points were also extended outside the lodge for community members/IDPs to have access to clean water. 🇳🇬

Aisha's story #FromTheFrontlines is one of recovery and resilience. When her town in Nigeria was attacked by insurgents years ago, she was hard hit.
