I’ve done some clever trickery by coming to Leicester Forest East, which isn’t actually in Leicester. A quick switchback onto the 153 will take me nicely back out into the countryside. #LeicestershireLoop

Not all of this journey involves connections with nice Costas or a McDonalds to wait in. The change from 153 to 28 involves standing by a busy road in the middle of nowhere. Only thing of note is the HQ of Poundstretcher. #LeicestershireLoop

Made it to Coalville. I’m shocked - shocked I tell you - to find that yet another rural British town has beautiful civic architecture ruined by car-centric design. #LeicestershireLoop

Coalville is an unfortunate case - cursed with bad transport links to Leicester (the fastest bus takes over an hour to go about 13 miles). This could be solved by reopening the Ivanhoe Line, but the government have shelved it. Typical lack of ambition. #LeicestershireLoop

For the first time on this trip, I have a bus completely to myself! This 18 will take me comfortably to Loughborough. #LeicestershireLoop

Very helpfully, this Centrebus 8 was pretty late arriving (for once, their unreliability is useful!) so I was able to catch it instead of waiting an hour. This means I’m making my final bus journey to complete the loop two hours earlier than expected! #LeicestershireLoop

Off for a jaunt around Bristol today, looking at the progress on the Victoria Street improvements Bristol City Council are doing between Temple Meads and the City Centre. Looking great, the new cycle lane is taking shape and there are even Dutch kerbs!

The new #HS2 bridge over Lawley Middleway is absolutely humongous up close. Incredible piece of infrastructure - can’t wait to see the ‘Bellingham Bridge’ over the Cross City Line slid into place soon.

Americans have finally managed to design out the one bit of walking they ever actually did by inventing malls where you drive from the car park all the way to the shops. Next they’ll create a way to drive from their sofa to their fridge somehow.
