A remarkable achievement for Kevin Ellison today. His 1,000th appearance in senior football. Playing for Vauxhall Motors FC against Runcorn Linnets FC he marked the day with a goal. Played for County 2001-04, making 48 appearances, scoring twice.

Highlight tonight was seeing a group of relatable, humble, down to earth group of County players on the pitch. How many of the current crop of staff - never mind players - know the words of the scarf? The football journey has been amazing but has the club's personality changed?

Got it in one. The conversion from a club and team, with real connection with the support, to a purely shiny commercial enterprise was always going to lead to a disconnect.
