Year 1 loved Derby Book Festival with Sophy Henn this week! They especially enjoyed drawing all of the different characters 🍄

Yesterday the children looked at some of the writing they had done in the very first week of Year 1. They compared it to the most recent piece of writing they had done in their English books and were amazed by how much progress they had made! 📝

The new Jellyfish class really enjoyed their first day of transition! 🪼

This afternoon the new Jellyfish Class did some fantastic self portraits! They used their iPads to take pictures of themselves and then used the picture to help them with their portraits 🪼✍️

On Monday, as part of our topic learning all about the United Kingdom, Year 1 tried some Welsh cakes. Thank you Mrs Thomas - Maths & Digital Lead for making them, they were delicious! 😊

AMAZING work making fruit salads this afternoon! So proud of how well everyone worked together and how sensible they were. Everyone certainly enjoyed eating what they created 🍏🍌🍓🍊🍇

A few highlights from the first day in Jellyfish Class today 🪼

A snapshot of some of the children’s fantastic work today! We read the story Bloom, all about a Jellyfish. The children drew pictures of the main characters and wrote a sentence thinking about how the character was feeling. Allenton English!

It’s been a busy first week in Year 1! We read ‘The tiger who came to tea’, learnt all about animal features and looked at different animal drawings in Art. In Maths we looked at 2D shapes, worked on our fundamental movement skills in PE and learnt all about seasons in Science

Some fantastic reciprocity shown by Jellyfish Class today! We learned all about the features of different animals, including reptiles, birds, fish and mammals. The children then worked in groups to label the features of a dog, one of the mammals we learned all about 👏
