The enigmatic Sussex Tiger Cranefly Nephrotoma sullingtoniensis, only known from one site in the UK until Graeme Lyons & Alice Parfitt found two new sites last year. This one among a fair few on Sunday at Alice's site Hurston Warren and c. 20 days earlier than found last year.

This week we had our first 2024 record of an adult solidierfly! Thanks to Terry Crow for a record of Silver Colonel soldierfly, Odontomyia argentata. If you have wetlands near you please have a look for this fairly rare species, flying in Apr-May, info at soldierflies.brc.ac.uk/silver_colonel

Spiny-winged #Heleomyzidae action around a badger corpse in East Yorkshire...Neoleria ruficauda, Scoliocentra villosa and Neoleria propinqua. Won't be long til propinqua disappears, and then N. inscripta will take over til the corpse is gone. Dipterists Forum
