The #EUCLID telescope is taking shape in our cleanroom in Toulouse 🇫🇷. Our engineers just integrated MullardSpaceScience ‘VIS’ visible imaging instrument on the payload module. The European Space Agency space telescope will image billions of galaxies out to a distance of 10 billion light years.

The Euclid extended payload module (PLM) is finishing its acceptance test campaign at Centre Spatial de Liège (Belgium). Yesterday morning (19 July 2021) the large vacuum tank was opened after more than 60 days of 24/7 intensive testing.

It was for the teams a very demanding period, all teams are very relieved that ESA's Euclid mission has successfully passed another milestone towards launch in 2022 !

The extended PLM contains the Euclid telescope and the two carefully aligned scientific instruments and was held in under space conditions with cryogenic temperatures (up to -150 degrees centigrade) and vacuum.

After successful tests under space conditions at the Centre Spatial de Liège, the Euclid payload module (PLM) was packed and transported to Thales Alenia Space in Turin.
