WSBC has again provided Sam Zimbabwe & Seattle Department of Transportation with priorities to move people safely while our bridge is out. We already prioritized essential investments, but SDOT's proposal minimizes bike infrastructure. We can do better: westseattlebikeconnections.org/wp-content/upl…
We can do better Seattle Department of Transportation. Investment in biking is ripe for mode shift results and everyone wins (even people driving). Commit to 1% for improving bike connections in West Seattle. More here: westseattlebikeconnections.org/wp-content/upl
Flex posts without bolts... bolt. Seattle Department of Transportation I'm happy to return this flexpost and plastic curb, but it was creating a danger. Thank you for doing something, but these don't last and don't physically protect people on bikes. Particularly when not bolted.
What does protect people are Jersey Barriers. Why don't we use them more Dongho Chang? There's an extra one that's been leaning up against a temporary fence and encroaching in the E Marginal Bike Lane for about a year...
We've been working with our local groups DuwamishValleySafeSt WSBC + other orgs to support the @duwamish_Tribe's efforts to get a safe crosswalk & sidewalk to their Longhouse & Cultural Center. Thanks to collective action, a new crosswalk & signal will be installed in 2021!
1/4 Seattle Street Fixers Cleanup #2 was a success! Thank you @RachaelLudwick Jason likeluke K H I Kate from WSBC for coming today to make parts of West Seattle Bridge Trail wider & safer for people walking, biking, & rolling! Beacon Hill Safe Streets Rainier Valley Greenways Safe Streets
Mayor Katie B. Wilson SeattleTimes Opinion "The single most important thing the city can do is redesign our most dangerous streets, starting with Aurora Avenue North, Lake City Way Northeast, Martin Luther King Jr. Way South, Rainier Avenue South and SODO streets in south Seattle... 80% of pedestrian fatalities happen."
We haven’t been using this platform but are making an exception today in case non-bots still look to it. We are posting memorial signs to honor people killed in traffic violence in West Seattle and to motivate action on #VisionZero. #WDR2023SEA Seattle Streets Alliance
I'm saddened by the loss of Washington State Department of Health's Steven Hulsman. His passion for cycling was matched only by his generosity and he'll be deeply missed by his family, friends and cycling community. northwest.motion.social/remembering-st…
