And every time I would feel self-doubt, it’s as if God would respond to me through my own poetry. I had moments where my experiences made me feel less valuable. I would wonder, how could this person treat me this way? Wasn’t I kind to them?

And foolishly, I would begin to doubt myself based on how others have treated me. And then one day when I was in Kampala, this line of poetry poured from me: “a tinted window does not truly darken what is on the other side.”

And I needed to hear that. I needed to hear the words I wrote but that seemed to come from somewhere higher. “A tinted window does not truly darken what is on the other side.” And, the understanding beneath that line brought me relief.

If someone came into my life and they used, abused, betrayed, or lied to me, it does not change human value. I would be lying if I said it didn’t hurt. Of course, it did. But it was their perception. It was their character that made them behave that way.

And in truth, people create ideas of who you are to justify how they will treat you. They cannot fully see your humanity. Look in your eyes. Feel you. They need distance. They need a reason. They will create it. In short, they darken the window.

And I am blessed that in all of those experiences, I still maintained. I didn’t give up even when I felt weary. Pain is never a destination, it is only a road.

And I’m still learning to let go, forgive others, forgive myself too. I feel better knowing that I survived my personal suffering and I didn’t lose my capacity to create and to love.

I am a force of nature. I am in the role of Ra because the creator has left it up to me to give some order and harmony to this planet. (Sun Ra)

Silence is music. There are different kinds of silence, each silence is a world all of its own. Silence is an integral part of all music. (Sun Ra)

stop “clout chasing.” i respect fraternities and sororities for making rite of passage the primary process in gaining access to the benefits of the organization. i see music the same way. study an artist before you seek to “collaborate” with them. show respect for the craft FIRST

Change your expectations, refrain from wanting for people to give what is beyond their capacity (or stage of development) at the moment. A person must desire change, put in the effort for transformation, to give different results. A glass of honeywine cannot pour water.

A person cannot hide who they are. With observation, you can tell. It’s mainly about having the patience to tolerate and encourage their growth process. A diseased tree will always show its leaves, what is truly in its roots - while a healthy tree will always show its fresh fruit

Rwanda's Government has shut down 6,000 churches and 100 mosques in total over the years. President Paul Kagame closed down 700 churches for noise pollution in 2018. He said "700 churches in Kigali? Are these boreholes that give people water? Do we even have as many factories?"

A new poem on hard-work and courage. RT if you agree! “The Creator feeds all birds, but doesn’t put food directly in their nests.”
