Persians holding back nomads from overrunning the West is still true in principle. This was a civilisational defense line. The Iranian plateau is where nomads attacked, settled & now try to claim/erase Iranian heritage. Bamiyan/similar sites aren’t Hazara/Afghan cultural sites.1/

The Tajiks of Afghanistan need a Tajikistan cultural ambassador. They are arguing with the president of Iran about who Ibn Sina belongs to and renaming Persian blue to Tajik blue. Absolute mental state of affairs.

The Afghan communist party was so braindead - at one point after their coup they painted everything in Kabul red - walls, chairs, tables, tree trunks - to the point that there was a red paint shortage. They even painted the white pigeons that they released during events red.

In some circles there is a theory that Stalin’s mother was from a northern Iranian bloodline (related to the Tajiks and Ossetians).

Back in the day all the meaty info was on blogspots. Finding an old one in the 2020s is like online archaeology. dienekes.blogspot.com

Someone brought us rice from northern Iran and I can't stop thinking about it. It smelled and tasted divine. Basmati and sela are so bland in comparison. I know people love their palow, but tru home cooking is in dampokht/shula/kateh.
