In honor of our #BSRBookWeek kickoff at Broad Street Review, I’m sharing what I’m currently reading, including Christina Rosso-Schneider’s Creole Conjure. Both books are signed copies from A Novel Idea on Passyunk, a great indie South Philly bookstore.

This is probably about 2/3 of my home library. Being surrounded by books and always having a good read within reach gives me so much joy. One of my dearest wishes is to live in a place with built-in bookshelves, though of course my trusty IKEAs are serving me well #BSRBookWeek

Disdain for the media is not a right-wing phenomenon, including in Philly. And as this piece rightly points out, politicians’ disdain for the media is disdain for YOU, the voter and constituent they should be accountable to.

Devastating. Didn’t meet Josh personally but we interacted on socials and I valued him as a journalist colleague & South Philly neighbor. He lived his values & was honest about tough things in his own life, which empowers others to share & survive, too. A huge loss.

Happy to see space for Philly’s young people to start their civic involvement. They deserve enjoyable spaces to learn and participate in city life.
