We are hearing worrying info about ungraded roofing Battens being sold widely in the UK, PRETENDING to be fully graded. They MUST state "Graded BS 5534" and they SHOULD be third-party Certified by an independent body. DO NOT trust the colour, especially BLUE: check for compliance

Re the news item about "dangerous" battens that can cause harm to roofers, using incorrect treatment chemicals: to be safe and also avoid bad grading of battens, buy ONLY those stamped "BS 5534" - and look for the Woodexperts Diamond Mark Certification stamp to get peace of mind

Tiling battens with a "bogus BS" are being sold by unscrupulous producers, fooling buyers into believing they're getting "BS" battens: by putting the "wrong" British Standard number on. BS 8417 is about treatment and NOT grading! BS 5534 is the correct one: BS 8417 is Kidology

WARNING - FAKE BATTENS! (Not Fake News). The UK roofing industry is being targeted by crooked companies, selling "BS 5534" tiling battens which have not been graded or certified and are potentially highly dangerous. The stamps claim they are graded to BS 5534 - but that's a LIE!
