Amber warning for rain for much of the Midlands just issued for tomorrow. Possibly 100mm plus for some spots. That’s on top of the 40-60mm already fallen and what’s to come today. That’s an awful lot of rain for this part of the world. Impacts likely.

Wonderful to welcome Food Security and Rural Affairs Minister Daniel Zeichner on to stand to chat with NFU Deputy President David Exwood. We’re looking forward to seeing him at our fringe event tomorrow night 🌾

The MET office have issued a weather warning for ANOTHER MONTHS rain tomorrow. So after 24 hours where most of us have received 50mm plus tomorrow there could be the same! Severe flooding will be the result if this happens

The rainfall rates we’re currently seeing are (or were) extremely rare. 30-40mm in one hour has a return period of 100 years plus according to the Flood Estimation Handbook. It’s happening at multiple locations this weekend.

Two very different forecasts for tomorrow. Hoping XC weather is the more accurate one, but I suspect it won’t be; not often do we get incessant heavy rain forecast for an entire day 🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️

When the expanded Farming Recovery Fund of an additional £50m was announced on 24/05, the worst affected areas from the storms of last Winter breathed a sigh of relief. Frustratingly, 4 months on, we still don’t even know the eligibility criteria… 🤦‍♂️🤬 gov.uk/government/new…

Deja vue. Just as we intended to start planting next year’s harvest, the weather has other ideas. 45mm in the last 30 hours with a lot more to come this week to thwart our plans 🤬

Just had a really interesting phone call from a farmer discussing this and the next generation. He was highlighting the difference between one of his children, who works for a major agricultural company as staff, and another who farms and supplies them. 1/2
