Extraordinary writing from @NotoriousTIB. "I wanted a world that meant something, but I didn’t know what it meant, or what that something was, or who I wanted to be, at the other end of it, except not myself." catapult.co/stories/i-spen… via Catapult

Changing your mind is rare. And it almost never happens in the middle of a conversation. That's not to say we should abandon persuasion, it's just to be clear on how it happens. It happens /after/ — sometimes *long* after — confrontation with an opposing view or lifestyle.

I don't mind religion in the public square and it's not a bad thing to remember the actual realities of people's faith but... it will be interesting to know if this level of public theology & scriptural content will be matched next week in Holy Week.

What is faith? The reformers spoke of three aspects: notitia (knowledge); assensus (assent); fiducia (trust). In modernity though, the emphasis is almost entirely on 'knowledge', with a bit of 'assent' for the keen beans. This is catastrophic for believers and unbelievers alike.>

A subtle England penalty shootout innovation (since 2021) is their deliberate, structured & functional use of social psychology. Here, Saka is picked up by John Stones after his penalty, to swiftly welcome him back in the team. What did England do and why did they do it? 1/7
