Unpopular opinion: goals are more important than systems. Without a goal, systems are pointless.

If you work a 9 to 5, you have professional skills. Try taking them to the open market. Sure, you'll have to make some noise & attract customers, but you'll charge 5x more than what you make at work. If one company will pay you, why wouldn't 100 others? Worth considering.
